About the genus · Pinguicula

Pinguicula, commonly known as butterworts, is a genus of carnivorous flowering plants in the family Lentibulariaceae. They use sticky, glandular leaves to lure, trap, and digest insects in order to supplement the poor mineral nutrition they obtain from the environment. 126 species are currently accepted. Cultivation

Grouped as a carnivorous plant by the genus Pinguicula, which is reliably one kind of plant (archetype table). The table holds no figure for this group, which spans too much for one minimum, and no habitat climate is derived yet; no cold floor is given, and no prose comes from the table.

Nothing derived: no habitat climate for this species, and the archetype table has no figure for its genus or family.

Climate across the habitat

No habitat climate can be derived: Only 2 distinct land cells of the climate grid hold an in-range record; three are needed for an envelope.

Natural habitat

Native range as published by WCVP; the marker is where the records are densest and decides nothing.
Openly licensed records inside the range, framed on where they fall.

Evidence usedThe map marker rests on all 24 georeferenced records inside the native range; the map shows only the 21 openly licensed ones, which alone would put the marker 1 km away. 230 records outside the range (gardens, roadsides, misidentifications) ignored. No climate envelope is derived for this species. 18 in-range records are placed to worse than 10 km and stay on the map but off the climate.
The map markerthe map marker: the openly licensed record nearest the middle of the densest 1° population of the 24 in-range records; it decides nothing.
